Program

How do I apply to the program?

Please see our application page.

Where is TWB located?

TWB's programs are typically held at 212 S. Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria.

When is your next program?

We typically hold three programs throughout the year in Winter, Spring, and Fall. Click here for upcoming program dates.

How long is each program?

Programs range from 8-10 weeks. Team Members meet every week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

What will I get out of doing this program?

You get what you put in!

You will actively learn and participate in food production, food safety education, business administration, and overall job readiness. We also teach empowerment and life-skills classes to help Team Members develop self-confidence, healthy coping strategies, and a strong support network as they move toward self-sufficiency. Each woman graduates job-ready, empowered, and with a nationally-recognized ServSafe certificate that can result in preferential hiring and higher wages.

What are the next steps after I apply to your program?

Our team will review your application and reach out to schedule an interview through the contact information you provide in your application. Decisions are made on a rolling basis. You will be notified of your status by phone or email.

What is a ServSafe certification?

The ServSafe Food Protection Manager’s Certification Course is the nationally recognized course from the National Restaurant Association’s Educational Foundation. Team members are instructed and tested on the material. 90% of our graduates have their ServSafe certification. This certification allows for preferential hiring, a higher starting salary, and opportunities for supervisory positions.

Will this program help me get a job?

TWB is a workforce training program; we do not place Team Members into jobs, but we do provide the necessary resources to help them gain and maintain employment. Currently, more than 70% of our Alumni Team Members are employed.

Our team will work with you both during the program and after graduation to help you step into and navigate a career.

Do you provide lunch for Team Members?

Yes! We provide lunch for Team Members every day we have class.

Do you cover transportation costs?

Whether you are using public transportation or have your own vehicle, we will provide a transportation stipend in order for you to get to and from Together We Bake.

Do you offer childcare?

Unfortunately, we do not offer childcare at this time. However, our team will work to connect you with resources.

Do you offer a stipend for completing the program?

Yes! Upon completion of the program, Team Members receive a stipend based on punctuality and attendance. Being enrolled in TWB is like having a part-time job; we expect you to show up on time, work in a team setting, and be open to learning so you are set up for success.

What's next after I graduate the program?

TWB is an empowered community that will continue supporting you well after graduation. Whether you need employment, access to services, or social support, we're here for you!

We host regular alumni events that are open to our entire community of graduates, and we stay connected to alumni through multiple platforms.
